Janet Evanovich is best known for her Stephanie Plum series of romantic adventure. Stephanie is a bounty hunter living in a neighborhood in New Jersey known as the Burg. She has two love interests, her high school sweetheart, Joe Morelli and a mystery man known as Ranger. Both are handsome hunks and both rescue her regularly. Other characters are Grandma Mazur who packs a gun in her 1960’s purse, Lula, who is a plus-size woman with a past, and Stephanie’s hamster, Rex. Yes, if you read one of the nineteen Stephanie Plum novels you will laugh out loud.

 

Mary Daheim

Mary Daheim is a native of Seattle, Washington and a prolific writer. She began writing historical fiction, moved on to romance and has landed on cozy mysteries with a bit of wit and humor thrown in. Judith Flynn is her main character, the owner of the Bed and Breakfast. Her cousin Renie is her mystery-solving sidekick and Judith’s mother, Gertrude is a source of much of the humor in her B and B series.

M.C. Beaton

M. C. Beaton is really Marion Chesney who has written an astounding 160 novels. She is 75 years of age, although she admits to lying about her age. Marion was born and raised in Glascow, saying it was a brutal environment with gangs and violence. Her early career was in journalism and she wrote for papers in both Glascow and New York. Then began her career as an author. She says she never wanted to be an author, but rather wanted to be an entertainer to give people something to laugh about on a tough day. Her newest series is a light-hearted mystery series with the main character, Agatha Raisin.

Fannie Flagg

Born Patricia Neal, Fannie Flagg is a multi-talented artist who has been an actress, a comedienne, a television writer and on-camera personality and has written a number of books as well. She is one funny lady. Her most famous book was turned into a movie and was entitled Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Café. She has several other popular titles, Can’t Wait to Get to Heaven and her most recent, I Still Dream About You.
