lemonade-ck-671044-l The sun is out, you’re relaxing on the deck and planning those warm weather barbecue dinners. Now is the time to gather some excellent recipes to make the meals special. Citrus drinks add zest to any outdoor meal and these are relatively healthy as well.  When preparing food for grandkids, you can reduce the amount of sugar and substitute your favorite sweetener to reduce calories. Organic lemons and limes will make these cool drinks even healthier.

 

Strawberry Lemonade

juice of ten lemons

1 1/8 cup sugar

6 cups water

strawberry puree made of 3 ½ cups fresh strawberries and 1 cup water, blended

Mix all ingredients, adding the puree last.

 

Green Tea and Mint Cooler

2 limes

8 cups water

4 green tea bags and 4 mint tea bags

sprigs of fresh mint

sweetener as desired

 

Juice one lime and slice the other, set aside. Boil water and pour over teabags. Remove tea bags and cool. Add lime juice and half the mint. Chill at least one hour or overnight.  Sweeten to taste. Garnish with mint sprigs and cut limes.

 

Limeade Spritzer

½ cup lime sherbet

4 T. lime juice

4 T. sugar

1 ½ cups club soda

 

Blend ingredients adding club soda last.
