Paris, London and New York City in August: Senior Travel Fun.

If you’re lucky enough to travel to a major city this August, you’ll be looking for entertainment. Here are a few of the highlights offered in these magical destination cities this summer:

Paris:

The museums are always a must when visiting Paris: The Louvre, The Centre Pompidou, Musee d’Orsay, Galeries Nationales du Grand Palais. But look also for the smaller more unique galleries such as the Cite de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine, a child friendly gallery filled with mockups of cathedral facades, medieval and renaissance murals and stained glass windows and examples of Romanesque and Gothic architecture. Another gem is the Musee du Quai Branly which features ethnic art from Africa, Oceania, Asia and the Americas.

For a special contemporary art treat, visit this summer’s Sevres Outdoors exhibition put on by a group of cutting-edge Paris galleries. You’ll find sculpture, chandeliers, alternative umbrellas, short films and more—all set up in the beautiful garden setting of Cite de la Ceramique in Sevre.

Music and Drama are the thing at the Quarter d’Ete Festival. You’ll enjoy dance, theatre productions, concerts and circus performances at this outdoor festival. City-wide, go to www.quartierdete.com for festival information. Many of the performances are free.
