Happy New Year everyone and welcome to 2013. January is one of seven months having thirty-one days. It is the coldest month of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and the warmest in the Southern. 10th First meeting of the United Nations General Assembly in London, 1946.

14th This is the date the Revolutionary War ended in 1784.

19th  Artist, Paul Cezanne was born in 1839.

21st  Dr. Martin Luther King’s life is celebrated. (third Monday in January)

24th  Gold was discovered in California at Sutter’s Mill, 1848.

25th  First Winter Olympics were held in 1924.

26th  Australia Day, 1788. It is also Republic Day in India.

27th  The National Geographic Society was founded on this day in 1888.

30th  Franklin Delano Roosevelt was born on this day in 1882.
