There is great music all over the US during the summer months. And you can find any style you like. Let’s begin with Wakarusa, a music festival held in the Ozark mountains of Arkansas from June 2nd– 5th. This festival is an eclectic combo of blues, pop, rock and everything in between. It’s a camping festival so come ready to hike and fish and hear some great music too. Another tasty summer festival happens in Manchester, Tennessee on a 700 acre farm. It’s Bonnaroo, on June 9-12th this year. You’ll hear everything from rock and Americana to jazz and contemporary. A huge festival, Summerfest goes from June 20th– July 3 and July 5-10th in Milwaukie’s Marcus Amphitheater. Music from noon to midnight daily includes hundreds of acts on eleven stages. Some headliners include Hall and Oates, Goo Goo Dolls, Leon Russell and Buddy Guy. Wanderlust presents their last gig in North Lake Tahoe,CA on July 28-31. This traveling festival will have hit ten states when they do this last four-day event which includes music, yoga and nature. Front groups include, Todd Boston, Jai Uttal, Gregg Gillis (Girl Talk) and the March Fourth Marching Band. A national favorite Lollapalooza happens in Chicago this year from Aug. 5-7. Headliners include Coldplay, Muse, The Cars and My Morning Jacket. And finally, one of my favorites, Bumbershoot will end your summer with a bang. Sept. 3-5 at the Seattle Center, Bumbershoot is a combination of music and the arts. Headlining acts include Mavis Staples, The Reverend Horton Heat, Broken Social Scene and The Presidents of the United States of America. Have fun!
