London

Romeo and Juliet at the Royal Opera House, October 1st  through December 2nd. This 50th anniversary of the Opera House opens its fall season featuring Steven McRae as Romeo and Sarah Lamb as Juliet.

Four Works by the Royal Ballet, October 26th -November 12th . Four short works dedicated to the pas de deux will be presented. Cuban dance superstar headlines the first, a work called Carmen. In addition three short ballets follow, the first by artist in residence Liam Scarlett and two more by Jerome Robbins and George Balanchine.

Thriller, a smash hit presentation in song and dance features Michael Jackson’s hits over a forty year career. The Lyric Theatre’s show is in its fifth year of performances.

Rome

Great Opera meets Ballet in Rome, October 1st , 8th and 15th   Lyric singers, two classical dancers and a chamber quartet will present works by Verdi and Puccini. Dancers from the Academy of Lyric and Dance in Rome will perform. Performance held at Chiesa Evangelica Valdese.

Paris

L’Histoire de Manon, October 27th – November 1st. The Paris Opera Ballet presents this story of a naïve woman in Paris who must choose between love and a life of pleasure. Supported by the music of Jules Massenet.

La Bayadere at the Opera Bastille, November 19th – December 16th. This beautiful ballet was choreographed by Rudolph Nureyev and tells the love story of a warrior and a temple dancer.

New York City

Fall for Dance Festival, October 1st -10th. Dance companies from all over the world perform. See dazzling performances by troupes from India, Brazil and Israel. Early arrivers will enjoy free dance classes and talks by choreographers, artists and critics.

American Ballet Theatre, October and November, in and around New York City. This year’s productions include AfterEffect by Marcelo Gomes, Monotones I and II by Frederick Ashton and Valse-Fantaisie by George Balanchine.

Aparna Ramaswamy, October 6th – 8th. This exotic Bharatanatyam dancer presents a program entitled They Rose at Dawn which chronicles the story of women as carriers of ritual. She is accompanied by a Carnatic music ensemble.
