M. C. Beaton is really Marion Chesney who has written an astounding 160 novels. She is 75 years of age, although she admits to lying about her age. Marion was born and raised in Glascow, saying it was a brutal environment with gangs and violence. Her early career was in journalism and she wrote for papers in both Glascow and New York. Then began her career as an author. She says she never wanted to be an author, but rather wanted to be an entertainer to give people something to laugh about on a tough day. Her newest series is a light-hearted mystery series with the main character, Agatha Raisin.
Born Patricia Neal, Fannie Flagg is a multi-talented artist who has been an actress, a comedienne, a television writer and on-camera personality and has written a number of books as well. She is one funny lady. Her most famous book was turned into a movie and was entitled Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Café. She has several other popular titles, Can’t Wait to Get to Heaven and her most recent, I Still Dream About You.
